Marie Brizard Chosen For Win At Ohinemuri

AUCKLAND, Dec. 19. Horses with important engagements at Ellerslie during the holidays will be an attraction at the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s summer meeting at Paeroa tomorrow. There is a good selection of Auckland Cup horses in the Hugh Dent Handicap and the Queen Elizabeth II Plate*. , The .Queen Elizabeth II Plate will be run over a mile and a quarter at wieght-for-age. and the Hugh Dent Handicap is a mile and a half. The likely favourites are Marie Brizard and ; Murvale. Probably the hardest for Marie Brizard to beat in the Queen Elizabeth II Plate will be Melanion and Froth. Murvale is a light-weight in the Hugh Dent Handicap, the first leg of the TAB. double. The easing of the ground lately brought him into favour, and has also brightened the prospects of Great Scot. Other notable candidates include Maori Legend, the Gore visitor, Liban, and Foxmara. The second leg will be the Shaw Stakes, weight-for-age. six furlongs. Several speedsters with important sprint engagements at Ellerslie will compete.

The three-year-old stablemates. Fountainhead and Up and Coming, from G. W B. Green’s stable at Takanini, are two prominent acceptors. Rauhihi Appeal Withdrawn

(New Zealana Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 19. The Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Clubs has withdrawn its appeal io the New Zealand Racing Conference appeal judges against the lifting of the suspension of H. N. Rauhihi.

Rauhihi was originally suspended tor a month by the judiical committee of the club on October 25. The Waikato District Committee upheld an appeal on his behalf on the ground that there were irregularities in the evidence, which did not show that Rauhihi was ever formally charged, and further that he was not notified of his suspension within the time prescribed by the rules. The district committee, therefore, removed the suspension.

Powerflite had a win and a third on the West Coast recently. He has a useful turn of speed and may add interest to the finish.

Trespasser and Zenith make most appeal of the others.

The off-course double will be run on the Rangiora Cup and the Rangiora Challenge Stakes. Prince, Skydale, and Dora Young form a likely trio for the first leg, while Some Lad, Cheam and Smokey Diamond are selected to dispute the finish to the second leg.

The forecast is for a few showers, but unless there is heavy rain, the track will be in splendid order. The fields are:—
