Newtown Crest In First Leg “The Press’* Special Service INVERCARGILL, December 11. Newtown Crest, in the Dwyer Memorial Handicap, and Treasure Pond, in the Tapanui Handicap, will be a strongly-fancied doubles combination at the Tapanui . Racing Club’s annual meeting. Newtown Crest holds two engagements—he is also an acceptor in the Quin Memorial Handicap—but after his clear-cut sprint success at Beaumont he will be a strong prospect in which ever race is chosen for him. Treasure Pond indicated an early return to winning form by finishing a close second to Master David at Invercargill at her last start. Several horses are engaged twice during the day. and some of the fields may be small. The track will be hard and fast. Riding engagements include:— B J. Anderton: Paper Clip, Treasure Pond. H. T.
