Memo. For T. Bailey
The double century scored by R. Steele in the Suburban Association competition on Saturday was the ninth by a Suburban player and the fifth in the senior grade. Always an attacking batsmen it did not take Steele long to master the Sumner bowling, and in a short time he was dictating the game. His scoring rate was hs follows: 100 in 75 minutes, 180 in 135, and his final tally of 220 in 180 minutes. His score included nine sixes and 31 fours. Suburban Colt Steele has been a member of the Suburban colts’ side for the last three seasons. His mediumpaced bowling and fielding are of a high standard and have made him a more than useful player. Educated at the Phillipstown School, he later played for the Lancaster Park Club in the third grade side where he scored two centuries. For a short time he was a member of the Shirley club before joining K.P.
His activities have not been confined to cricket, as he has played senior football for Linwood as well as having been a third grade coach and committee member.
