Teddington-Charteris Bay Road

Sir,—l wholeheartedly support “Tattas” and “No Tourist” on the state of this road. Never has it been so bad for so long.— Yours, etc., W. MARK BROWN. December 10, 1958. Sir,—lt is pleasing to note that the Mount Herbert County Council is at least making a token effort to improve the road surface in this sector. The road surface during the dry spell has certainly deteriorated. For years past this goat track, for it is little else, has tested the skill of drivers and sheep alike. The efforts of the little grader owned by the Mount Herbert County Council will be in vain, because all it can do is to scrape the dust into the hollows only to be taken out again by the heavy transport and cars that follow. As a constant road user over this section I would say that time is well past when the Mount Herbert County Council should do something practical to make this road safe for the precious lives of our New Zealanders.—Yours, etc., • TATTAS. December 10, 1958.
