Plans For Holiday
Period
The Christchurch Post and Telegraph Department hu announced the hours of attendance during the holiday period.
Normal hours of attendance will be observed on December 24. Christmas Day will be observed as a Sunday, but telegraph counters will accept telegrams from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m„ and from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Holiday rates will be charged for telegrams. On Boxing Day, no deliveries will be made by postmen, and post offices will be closed in all branches except for the telegram counter, where telegrams will be accepted from 9
a.m. to 2 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. All principal telephone exchanges will be open on Boxing Day. Normal hours will be observed on December 27, 29, and 30, and deliveries will be made by postmen. The Post Office Savings Bank will be open from 6.30 to 8 p.m., as well as the normal hours, on December 31, and telegrams will be accepted until 10 p.m. All counters will be open from 8 a.m to 8 p.m. On New Year’s Day, Sunday hours will be observed, but telegrams will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. No deliveries will be made by postmen on January 2, telegrams will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. All principal telephone exchanges will be open. Postmen’s deliveries will be made on January 3, and Saturday hours will be observed.
