Date of Ball Changed.—The chairman of the general committee of the Christchurch Town Hall Promotion (Mr P. B. Watts) announced yesterday that the date of the Town Hall floral festival ball has been changed. The ball will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 1959, instead of Wednesday, February 11, as originally planned. The Governor-General (Lord Cobham) and Lady Cobham will attend. Wesley Lodge Party.—Residents of Wesley Lodge Eventide Home were entertained recently at a Christmas party held at the home. Gifts were distributed to all residents and staff members, and a programme of entertainment was presented by Mrs D. Pashby and her concert party. Hospital Visitors^—The Hospital Lady Visitors’ Association raised £lOO at a sale of work held at the Public Hospital recently. Books had been received from the National Broadcasting Service, Mesdames Mould, Fell, Dean, Oliver, Packer, Parsons, Godby, Miss Sapsporal, Messrs A. Nicholls, W. T. Patterson, H. Sullivan, T. G. Denniston, and ”a minister.” Golu star Mothers.—Christmas carols played by Mrs Cooper gave a festive touch to the Gold Star Mothers' Club Christmas party re. cently, when Mrs V. Scott presided. The beautiful Christmas cake made by Mrs Jack was cut by Mrs Newman. Lucky number winners were Mesdames Jesson and Watson.
