Butchers On Strike In Buenos Aires
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, December 9.
Thousands of butchers are on strike in Buenos Aires and surrounding suburbs as a protest against the high price of meat. British United Press reports the butchers say they cannot sell meat at Government prices because they have to buy from the wholesalers at much higher prices. The Government policy is to increase exports and reduce local consumption, but there is an agitation to reduce exports in favour of local consumption.
