ADJUSTMENTS OF P.A.Y.E.
“All Must Have Right” (New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE. Dec. 10. The functions of the committee set up by the Government caucus to study existing P-A.Y.E. legislation were outlined in Gisborne today by the chairman of the committee, Mr R. A. Keeling, M.P. Mr Keeling said that in his opinion it was inevitable that all payers of Income tax must have th” right to submit annual returns of income for adjustment. A matter which would require consideration x >uld be the case of workers the major proportion of whose income was derived in the last quarter of the financial year. The committee would investigate the whole of the existing legislation with a view to pre-* paring any necessary amendments to it, said Mr Keeling. Individual taxpayers would be entitled to make their own submissions to the committee, and evidence of cases of actual hardship will be sought.
