MOTOR SPIRITS LICENSING
Further Applications i Heard Further applications to sell petrol *from pumps and also to install petrol pumps were considered by the New Zealand Motor Spirits Licensing Authority in Christchurch yesterday. The Authority comprised Mr S. C. Johnston, of Auckland (chairman) and Mr S. Roberts, of Wellington. The Authority approved an application by A. C. Harrison and Company, Ltd., for a licence to retail motor spirit from one pump to be installed inside garage premises at 155 Victoria street. Christchurch. Mr A. C. Perryappeared for the company.
An application by T. K. Dixon, to change the retail selling point of one pump from Empire road —previously Stewarts Gully road —to a proposed new service station and garage premises, on the Main North road, at Whites bridge, was declined. Messrs J. Robertson, representing Chaney’s Service Station, and Mr A. Hearn, representing Waimakariri Services, Ltd., opposed the application. When I. R. M. Bruce, represented by Mr J. B. Weir, applied for a licence to retail motor spirits from one pump to be installed on garage premises at 278 North road, Kaiapoi, the case was adjourned. The application was opposed by Palmer and Doak, petrol resellers at a service station in Kaiapoi. The Authority reserved its decision when A. B. Cartwright applied for a licence to retail motor spirits from one pump to be installed at a service station and garage premises at the corner of Lake road, and High street. Leeston. Mr H. Hunter appeared for Cartwright. The Authority also reserved decision on applications by A. J. Dowling (Mr A. C. Perry) for a licence for a proposed service station in Evans street, Timaru. The application was opposed by three local resellers. Mason Garage. Ltd. (Mr A. C. Perry), opposed by Stillwells, Halswell, Ltd., A. J. Morris (Mr H. W. Hunter), opposed by Hinds Motors, Ltd. •Mr A. I. Cottrell), Paintin and Nottingham, Ltd. (Mr A. C. Perry) opposed by A. C. Rhodes (Mr B. Barret).
