Sir, —The management of a re-1 tai! store last night showed no! concern for the safety of its! customers and staff when an alarm; brought the lire brigades to the premises. Admittedly it proved to. be a false alarm, but no action; was taken to evacuate the build-j ing until it had been established! whether there was a tire. I was I purchasing goods at the time when, a fireman came rushing through the shop, and I was shocked to| hear no signal to get out. Surely; the Ballantynes fire taught us a lesson to evacuate people immediately when an alarm calls; the brigade.
