Top-level Western talks on Russian pressure to end Four-Power control of Berlin were due to be held again today as the Russians indicated they would stand firm: on their demands. The British Ambassador to.' West Germany. Sir Christopher Steel, will have his second talk with West Berlin's mayor, Mr Willy Brandt. He talked with Mr Brandt yesterday and later discussed the situation with Military Government officials. The Soviet Communist Party; newspaper "Pravda” today said I “the Soviet Union will consistently follow its line in respect I ;of Berlin and will implement it."! “The occupation of West Berlin . has been u.-ed by the Western ' Powers as a poisoned weapon to I spoil the atmosphere in Europe "The time has come now to ’ solve the Berlin question radically in keeping with interests of peace and international security.” the paper said. The British United Press said Russia may reveal today her plans . for West Berlin at a press conference called by the Russian ! Embassy in East Berlin ! The Ambassador Mr Pervukhin. ! has just returned from Moscow. . The Russians have not held a I ' press conference in Berlin since •lune. 1956. when they accused the I United States of building a tunnel into Eastern Berlin to tap | Russian telephone lines, the jagency said.
