FACTORY FIRE CHECKED
£lOOO Damage At Lower Hutt (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 12. Flames roared through the roof and burst from the windows of the Brolite (N.Z.), Ltd. enamel and lacquer plant in Lower Hutt early this morning. Prompt action by two machines from the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade and one from Petone checked the outbreak. The alarm was given shortly after 8 o’clock when a sheet of flame engulfed a machine in the mixing section. The fire, fed by highly inflammable solvents, quickly gutted a wall. The manager at the factory. M- E. Hunkin, estimated structurr ’ damage to be in the vicinity of £5OO to £6OO. and damage to stock and machinery at a similar amount. It is understood the damage is covered by insurance.
