SMUGGLED GOLD RECOVERED

Pakistan authorities today recovered gold worth about £187,500 from the sea near Karachi, where it had been dumped by smugglers. This is the third big gold haul by the authorities since the declaration of martial law at the beginning of last month.
The total value of the gold recovered is now about £825.000. The value of smuggled gold recovered by the Customs in the 11 years since independence to the declaration of martial law was about £1.200.000, Reuter said. Authorities also hauled up 875 gold sovereigns during the last
