BEANLAND CUP
R. Davies Wins With Swift
Fourteen boats took part in the Beanland Cup combined class race held by the Christchurch Yacht Club during the week-end. The Takapuna. Swift (R Davies), which started from the 25min mark, won from Frenzy. G. Mander’s R-class yacht, which started from scratch. The race was held over a triangular course in a moderate north-easterly wind. There was a fresh north-easterly wind for the Commodore’s Cup race for juniors held yesterday over an L-shaped course. An R-class race was also held by the club over three rounds of a windward-leeward course Results were:— Beanland Cup (combined class). — Swift (R. Davies) 1, Frenzy (G. Mander) 2. Fury (W Beare) 3, Zeus (J. Stemmer) 4.
Commodore’s Cup (junior race).— Fury (W. Beare), Imin, 1; Zest (A. McKeogh) 3mln, 2. R Class.—Freew’ay (C. Papps) 1. Contessa (D. Treleaven) 2, Horizon (F. Simpson) 3.
