Canterbury Wins At Lincoln
A century scored by the West Christchurch batsman, K. Thomson, was the feature of the match between the Canterbury Brabin Shield side and Ellesmere at Lincoln yesterday. Thomson had power and precision in his off-drives, and scored well with several fine hook shots. The Canterbury side won by 167 runs on the first innings. Included in Thomsons innings were three sixes and nine fours. The pitch was bumpy and the ball often rose awkwardly during the morning play Canterbury Brabin Shield side 263 (K. Thomson 114, J. England 47, I. Hartland 45; N. Chamberlain three for 55, K Brown two for 18) beat Ellesmere 96 (R. Fleming 20. L. Wason 20: W. Charlton three for 23, I. Hartland three for 26. C. Smart three for 17) by 167 runs on the first innings.
