105 YEARS OLD TODAY

Mrs E. Aylett, Of Auckland (Hew Zeaiana Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 26. Quietly, with a- few relatives and friends by her bedside, Mrs Emily Aylett, of Glendowie, will celebrate her 105th birthday tomorrow. Mrs Aylett has been confined to her bed for the last three months. Today, telegrams and flowers were arriving in abundance at her home. The Mayor of Auckland (Mr K. N. Buttle) sent flowers and letters have been received from the Primate of New Zealand (Archbishop Owen), and Sir Sidney Holland. The birthday cake has been made by a granddaughter of Mrs Aylett and iced by a niece. It will have six candles—a large centre candle signifying 100 years —and five small candles. Mrs Aylett was born at Herne Bay and has lived all her life in Auckland. She is the eldest child of Mr James Vann Marston, one of the earliest solicitors in Auckland.
