Fire Station Site
Sir,—l am pleased that you have taken up the question of the proposed fire station site. It is only by having the facts made public that we realise where some of our planners are leading us. An earlier correspondent suggested that the National Council of Churches would lend both spiritual and practical aid to the cause of this church which is m danger of being victimised by bureaucracy. It Would be interesting to have this council’s view. —Yours, etc., KNIGHT ERRANT. September 17. 1958. [The Rev. D. M. Taylor, chairman of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Churches, said that the question of the site of the proposed fire station was one which the council had neither the authority nor the technical knowledge to discuss.]
