£200,000 CENTRE PLANNED
Auckland Crippled Children Society (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 25. Plans for a multi-storey £200,000 centre for crippled children were announced at the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society tonight. The centre Will be built and equipped by the Dadley Trust and will be known as the Dadley Foundation. Architect’s plans are being prepared and it is hoped to commence building as soon as possible. To assist it in its planning, the Dadley Trust is obtaining the personal advice of Dr. Howard Lusk, professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of New York. Dr. Lusk, an authority in his field, will arrive in Auckland on November 6. The proposed centre will include a hostel, classrooms, therapy clinics, and trade training facilities. It is not yet decided whether it will be run on a national, provincial, or simply a city basis. The Dadley Trust, an endow-
ment fund set up under the will of Mr Harry Sproston Dadley, an Auckland businessman, who died in 1933, has £150,000. The trustees hope to obtain a Government subsidy for the balance of the finance needed.
