VISIT TO N.Z. UNIVERSITIES
Science Departments To Be Studied (New Zealand. Press Association/ AUCKLAND, Sept. 24. A close look at science departments in New Zealand universities is being taken by Mr T. M. Owen (Registrar of Canberra University College), who is at present in Auckland. The college, he said, had been given authority to establish a science faculty. It is also expanding into adult education and teacher-training fields Canberra University College, which is under the jurisdiction of Melbourne University for curricula and setting of examinations, is seeking independence. Mi Owen said he will look at the changes that have come about in New Zealand now that the university colleges have been given wider standing as full universities.
Mr Owen will visit Massey Agricultural College on Monday, and then go on to Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, where he will attend a conference of university registrars on October 7.
