EQUIPMENT FROM OVERSEAS

Cashmere Hospital Furnishing

An order for items of kitchen equipment for Cashmere Hospital was placed with an American firm a few weeks ago and the equipment has already been dispatched from the factory. The company handling the contract for the lifts for the nurses’ home at Cashmere had urged highest priority of their delivery, the building committee also reported to yesterday’s meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The secretary (Mr J. G. Laurenson) said the lifts were to be shipped in December. Good progress on the building of the hospital and the nurses’ home was reported. The furnishings sub-committee of the finance committee has approved the engagement of a colour consultant to assist in the choice of colours and materials for the hospital furnishings. The tender of J. and W. Faulkner, Ltd., of Dunedin, for the supply of 256 beds at a cost of £3l 3s 6d each, was accepted. The numbering of wards was considered preferable to naming from an administrative point of view, reported the hospital commissioning committee. The Health Department has approved the location of the proposed hospital chapel.
