Mutton And Lamb Prices Up

Uniform price rises in all types of New Zealand ewe mutton and Canterbury lamb were seen on the Smithfield meat market last week, according to the latest report received from the Imported Meat Trade Association. Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes were again not quoted. New Zealand ewe mutton showed the following rises: under 481 b, Jd per lb to 14Jd; 49-561 b, per lb to 12£d; 57-641 b, fd per lb to lid. Dominion ewe mutton 65-721 b was not quoted. All grades of Canterbury lamb, both first and second quality, showed rises ranging from id per lb to |d per lb. First quality Canterbury lamb rose in all grades by id per lb, with the under 281 b grade reaching 28gd per lb. Second quality rose id per lb in both grades. Frozen and chilled beef from the Dominion were again not quoted.

Prices for New Zealand meat (ex store, London, for frozen meat, delivered to Smithfield for chilled beef) in the week ended September 19, with the variation since the previous week, were:—
