FIRST PRIZE IN ART UNION
Winning Ticket Missing
(New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, Sept. 24.
Two Whangarei people have spent much of the last 24 hours hunting frantically for a little slip of paper which, they think, is worth £5OOO. They are hunting for an art union ticket which they bought in Wellington on August 20 and signed “Norton.”
Ticket No. 302764, “Norton,” won the “Dad’s Lucky Day” art union, drawn yesterday. It was bought in the Wellington district.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Norton, of Ormond road, think they are the winners, but they fear they have burned the ticket. Mrs Norton said she and her husband—who is a waterfront worker—were in WeHington on holiday when they bought their ticket. Today, Mrs Norton said they would write to t'. e promoters of the art union if they could not find the ticket, and see if a handwriting comparison would establish whether they were the winners or not. She added she “did not dare think about what they would do with the money if they won it—we’ve got to find that ticket first.”
