BASKETBALL AT GERALDINE
More Than 40 Teams Take Part
Teams throughout Canterbury took part in • the open tournament held in the Geraldine Domain on Saturday by the Geraldine Basketball Subassociation to close their season. More than 40 teams took part. The A grade section was won by Kakatai, who won all- their games to score the total of 12 points from School A with 10 points. In section 1 of the second grade the winners were Hinds A with 9 points from Papanui with 8 points. Greenpark won section 2 with 10 points from Papanui B with 8 points, and section 3 went to Junior Comets with 10 points from Leeston with 8 points. In the third grade School C with 10 points won section 1 from Kakatai C with 8 points. Section 2 was won by vYoolworths, who scored 9 points from Shirley North with 7 points. The junior grade was won by St. Andrew's B with 10 paints from Shirley North with 8 points. At the cdnclusion -of play the president of the sub-association (Mr W. S. Aitken) thanked all for making the tournament a success and the trophies were presented by the Mayoress (Mrs C. S. Davies), who congratulated the 'winners.
