WOOLSTON HORTICULTURE SOCIETY’S SPRING SHOW
There were 340 entries in the Woolston Horticultural Society’s spring show neld recently.
In the daffodil sections the entries were well above last year, but because of the dry, cold winter, entries in the cut flower sections were not nearly as large as in other years. Nevertheless the high standard of the society’s shows was well maintained. Blue ribbons were won by A. W. Chappel in the daffodil sections, Mrs W. H. Yates in the decorative section, ano T. Basher in the cut flowers. Challenge cups were won as follows: Daffodil Cup: G. A. Challies. Intermediate, R. Gage Cup: Mrs B. S. Yuill Novice, I. Hitchings Cup: Miss I. Yuill. Childrens. R. Gage Cup: Miss J. Yuill. Awards were:— Daffodils (Judge: Mr J. Fields.) Open: G. Challies, 7 firsts, 5 seconds, 2 thirds; A. Chappell. 3 firsts, 6 thirds; G. Lewis, 3 seconds, 1 third; W.
