ALCOHOLISM IN EAST EUROPE
Draft Bill Passed In Hungary
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) VIENNA, Sept. 22. A Hungarian Communist Parliamentary Committee has passed a draft bill which provides severe measures against habitual drinkers, among them sobering-up rooms at police stations, a central institute for notorious drinkers, harsher punishments for noisemaking alcoholics, and payment of part of their salaries to their wives, the American Associated Press reported. Alcoholism is plaguing all East European countries. The Communist governments frown on it especially, because of its effects on production.
