LOWER PRICES FOR BACON
Concern Expressed At Hawera (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 23. The jd per lb drop in the price to be paid to farmers for their baconers next Monday disturbed the Taranaki District Pig Council at it* meeting at Hawera to-
day. In a statement after the meeting the council said the situation had been brought about by the fact that there was a surplus of baconers in the country and that these would have to be exported. With the price to farmers at Is 4Jd per lb for porkers and Is 4d from next Monday for bacon pigs, there was something wrong when the consuming public was asked to pay as much as 4s per lb tor fresh pork in some peaces and 4a 3d per lb for bacon.
