EAGER TO DEAL WITH JAPAN

Businessmen In Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 23. Auckland businessmen, encouraged by the recent trade pact between New Zealand and Japan, showed their willingness to deal with Japan this evening. They besieged Mr Jiyoji Tsuji, managing-director of Mitsubishi (Australia) Pty., Ltd., at a reception.

All were eager to know whether Japan could offer goods competitively with other countries against present import licences.

Mr Tsuji’s company has recently expanded to Australia. “My territory,” he said, “includes New Zealand: We are very interested in expanding trade here.”

Items he particularly mentioned for export to Japan were meat, wool and daify products. He said he was also interested in timber, metal, scrap and coal.

“We are looking for raw materials,” he said. “In return we think w‘e can sell you manufactured goods at a very competitive prices.”
