Mr David Exley, a New Zealander whom the United States Air Force flew from Tel Aviv to West Germany in a newly developed aluminium lung, left Rhine-Main airport-today for New York on a regular military air transport aircrafL A spokesman of the United States Air Force said Mr Exley, accompanied by the American Air Force polio team which brought him to Wiesbaden Hospital from Israel, will be taken to the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Mr Exley was newspaper- officer for the Canadian commander of the United Nations observer force in the Gaza Strip (General R. C. Burns) when he wu taken ill with poliomyelitis this spring.
