“The Chalk Gardeners”
Sir, —Certain misconceptions are current about our show, “The Chalk Gardeners.” They may unfortunately reflect on Town Hall Promotion, which has given us every assistance. Apparently some persons believe this revue is a satire on those who believe that our pioneers should never be forgotten. This idea is completely without foundation. We concur that the traditions of this province are of the greatest value. The intentions imputed against us, must be firmly denied. We take sides neither with the radical lecturers or the pioneer group which figure in the show. Such honoured institutions as the British House of Parliament have always given rise to playful jest. It is surely part of the respect in which they are held. The several prominent citizens who have read the script, or seen rehearsals have found nothing objectionable on moral grounds. The aim is to provide a light-hearted show and to
make a really worthwhile contribution to the town hall fund.— Yours, etc., ? A. HAIR, Chairman fevuecommittee.
