BRITAIN’S BEST AMBASSADRESS
Maid Marion In “Robin Hood”
The Earl of Bessborough, speaking in the House of Lords recently described television’s “Robin Hood’’ as Britain’s best ambassador, says a London correspondent. Patricia Driscoll, 28-year-old actress who takes the part of Maid Marion, therefore has a strong claim to the title of “Britain’s Best Ambassadress.’* She already receives more than 200 fan letters a week, mainly from the United States where “Robin Hood” is in its fourth year on television. Miss Driscoll is a “natural” for the Maid Marion role. She took up archery several years ago and has been riding since she four years old.
But she was not considered for the part until last year when Bernadette O’Farrell left the cast. Previously, she was engaged in far less adventurous work—teaching children to make little models on the television programme, “Watch With Mother.” Patricia is the wife of the actor. Duncan Lamont and has a mews fiat in Regent’s Park, London. Since becoming Maid Marion, she has trebled her income to about £l5O a week. Death of Mis* Arnott.—Regret at the recent death of Miss M. F. Arnott is expressed in this month’s bulletin of the Christchurch Federated Business and Professional Women’s Club. Miss Arnott was a member of the club for many years and was both a club and federation officer. She was also a delegate to the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Women for many years.
