SOCIETY GIRL TO WED BOATMAN
Preparations For Ceremony
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) PORTO D'ISCHIA (Italy). September 6. The incredibly lovely Italian island of Ischia seemed all smiles today in preparation for its-wed-ding of the year tomorrow—that of Miss Amelia Eden, the Mayfair society niece of Sir Anthony Eden, and her handsome Italian boatman, Giovanni Borelli. Islanders and tourists alike have taken the British-Italian love story to their hearts, the American Associated Press reported. Any signs of rancour that marked first reports of the marriage—Sir Timothy Eden, the father of the bride, said in London that "it went against the grain”—had disappeared today. Mr John Eden, brother of the bride, arrived to represent his father at the wedding. He brought gifts, and the greetings between him and Giovanni's family were hearty. Reuter reported that police were posted today in the dusty little lane running past the concrete bungalow where Amelia and Giovanni will live. ■Hie police chief of the island said the police were “to ensure peace for the Eden and Borelli ■families—especially against the reporters and photographers.
