Eisenhower Pleased
(Rec. 9 p.m.) NEWPORT (Rhode Island), August 30. President Eisenhower, who is on vacation at Newport, expressed his gratification today at Russia’s announcement of willingness to join the United States and Britain in talks aimed at ending nuclear tests. The White House press secretary, Mr James Hagerty, said Mr Eisenhower was willing for the talks to be held in Geneva. Mr Hagerty said he doubted whether Mr Eisenhower would take part personally. But he did not rule out the possibility that Mr Eisenhower might attend a head-of-state meeting on the problem later. In London, the British Foreign Office welcomed Mr Khrushchev’s proposal
