BOYS’ BRIGADE CONTEST
Christchurch Wins Drill
(New Zeqtana Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 31. .The First Christchurch Company the Canterbury Battalion of the Boys Brigade won the first national drill competition held in Wellington on Saturday as part of the New Zealand Brigade’s seventy-fifth anniversary celebration. More than 150 boys took part. The Prime Minister (Mr Nash) and the Mayor of Wellington (Mr F. J. Kitts, MP.) were welcomed by the brigade band, a general salute and a guard of honour. : Mr Nash urged the boys to follow Shakespeare’s advice—’’to thirie own self be true”—and never let themselves down. He said they could acquire power to do good through prayer. Results:—Canterbury (First Christchurch) 1, Nelson (First Blenheim) 2, Hawke's Bay (First Hastings) 3. , Auckland (Fourth Auckland) 4, South Canterbury (Second Timaru) 5, Bay of Plenty (First Rotorua) 6, Gisborne (Eighth Gisborne) 7. Waikato (Second Hamilton) -8, Wellington (Fifteenth Wellington) 9. Taranaki (First Okato) 10, Wanganui (First Wanganui) 11, and Manawatu (Seventh Palmerston North) 12.
