Victoria Has Clear Win (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 21. Victoria University was a clear winner of the inter-university winter tournament, which ended in Wellington today. Victoria, with 48 2-3 points, won from Otago (39 2-3 points) and Canterbury (37 points). Auckland scored 34 2-3 points and Massey College scored 8 points. A good win in the fencing consolidated Victoria’s position. It is the first time since 1954 it has won the winter tournament shield. Auckland University was last year’s winner. In the post-tourney women’s hockey match today between New Zealand Universities and Wellington, Wellington won 4-2. In the men's hockey a successful penalty bully in the last stages of the match against a Wellington representative team enabled the combined university team to draw, 4-4. New Zealand Universities beat a Wellington representative golf team. 4-2. at Miramar. Massey College won the Soccer section, beating Auckland 3-1. Final points in the Soccer were:— Massey 8, Canterbury 6, Otago 4, Auckland 2, Lincoln and Victoria both 0. Otago beat Victoria, 6-5.
