Competition For Trophies

Golfers throughout New Zealand will be able to compete for the Golf Foundation Loving Cup and the New Zealand Champion’s Challenge during this year’s golf foundation week which will begin tomorrow and end on August 31. In the champion’s challenge, players’ net scores will be matched with the winner’s final round in the New Zealand open championship. Certificates signed by the open champion will be awarded to players whose net scores are better than the champion’s final round. For the Loving Cup the three best net scores returned by the men and the three best net scores by the women will be added together, and the club with the best aggregate will win the cup and hold it for one year. In the event of a tie between two or more clubs the trophy will be held jointly. All entry fees will be used in promoting golf among juniors, mainly by providing professional tuition to players in the group coaching scheme.

Miss Campbell Loses In Australia (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY. August 21. j The young New Zealand golfer, Miss Nicki Campbell, who was the only one of the touring team of six New Zealand women to qualify yesterday for match play in the Avondale Bowl at the Avondale Golf Club today, was beaten 3 and 2. She went down in one of the semi-finals to a Sydney player, Mrs Enid Clements, of Manly.
