NEW RADIO PHONE FOR CARS
Horn Will Summon Driver
A driver's own car-horn will summon him back to his vehicle to answer his radio telephone with new very high frequency (V.H.F.) transmitters and receivers which were demonstrated at a meeting of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters.
The V.H.F. equipment was described by Mr Angus Tait. The use of tone-calling was an unusual feature of the equipment, he said, and was used when V.H.F was installed in cars and commercial vehicles. The receiver was left running and the tone-calling equipment caused the horn to sound if the driver was required A feature of the display was the remarkable clarity with which signals were received.
