Shah Not To Remarry Princess Soraya
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, July 3. The Shah of Iran said with tears in his eyes today that “noone could care more than myself” for the childless Queen he has divorced in an attempt to ensure the succession to the Iranian throne. The-Shah said the decision to divorce Princess Soraya “destroyed my personal life.” But Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlevi also said: “There is no possibility that I will remarry Princess Soraya.” The 39-year-old monarch spoke to two reporters before he sailed home from an eleven-day visit in the United States.
