SOUTHERN COMEDY PLAYERS
Party Visits High Schools
Three members of the Southern Comedy Players, Bernard Esquilant, William Menlove and Patricia Gordon, are on a six weeks’ tour of South Island secondary schools. The players, who are from Dunedin, are presenting a programme entitled “Hidden History,” made up of extracts from plays including “School for Scandal,’’ “Henry VIII,” “Richard II” and “Alice in Wonderland.” The pro gramme also traces the history of some well-known nursery rhymes. Produced by Rilla Stephens, the programme was compiled by John Hunter and Rilla Stephens The company will move on to Mid-Canterbury after performing at city schools this week. Tomorrow morning, the players will present their programme to pupils of the Avonside Girls’ High School.
