One-Sided Matches

A complete reversal of last week’a form, gave Rex A a 42-9 win over Training College in the men’s indoor basketball competition played last evening.

N. Packman and G. Alabaster scored heavily from set shots, throughout the game, and a very fast pace was maintained. Only G. Peters and R. Thornley were able to penetrate to score 13 of Training College's points. For Rex, Packman top scored with 11 points, and Peters scored 10 for Training College. The University-Rangiora game, although constructive, was also too one-sided to be very interesting. University won by 49 points to 13. University’s long passes frequently caught Rangiora napping, and a weaving dribble through the zone defence by the University centre, G. Petersen, was most pleasing to watch. Petersen top scored for University with 14 points. J. Bond scored four points for Rangiora. Y Boys and Burnham also played a one-sided game, which Y Boys won, 33-7. Burnham’s passing and penetration failed on the top of the keyhole. Interceptions were responsible for many of ¥ Boys points. McDougall and Hack floated freely to receive long passes from which they scored with ease. Results were:—

A Grade.—Y-Boys A 33, Burnham 7; Rex A 42, Training College 19; Y-Boys B 22, St. Andrew s 0.8. 16; University 49, Rangiora 13; B.G.H?. A 23, Dominoes 17; Stars 25, Training College B 15.

B Grade.—Y-Boys C 18, B.G.H. B 13; B.G.H. C 18. Rex B 13; Rex C 15, Stars B 10; University' C 23, B.G.H. B 22; University D 25, Rebels 30.
