250 New A.A. Members In Winter Month
Satisfaction that 250 new members had been enrolled in May (“not really a motoring month”) was recorded by the council of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) last evening. The monthly report showed that membership now stands at 41,568. This is a gain of 2498 ir the present financial year and a gain of 21,000 in the last seven years—an increase of almost 100 per cent. But the association is not content. It will soon embark on a new campaign to bring before non-member motorists the advantages of A.A. services.
All this was reported to a meeting last evening. Appreciation of an undertaking that further trees beside the highway at Bankside would be removed to eliminate the danger of ice on the road was recorded Mr A. S. Crew, a council member, was congratulated that his proposal for the licensing of used car dealers would apparently be the subject of legislation in the present session of Parliament.
