England Beats Queensland

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE. June 22. The English Rugby League team played the brightest football of its Australian tour when it beat Queensland, 36-19, yesterday. The English forwards moved the ball quickly from rucks, and backed up and joined with the backs. Queensland surprised England early in the match and led 7-0 after only 15 minutes’ play. The seven points came from a penalty goal and a good try by the winger, P. Tyers. which was converted by Davies. Tries by the five-eighths, Bolton, and the lock, Whitely, which Fraser converted, turned the game England’s way within four minutes. Three minutes later, the half-back, A. Murphy, sped between hesitant Queensland forwards. 25 yards from the line, and scored another try. England led, 13-7. Quensland tightened its game in the second half, and England, although r maintaining dominance, •cored only another three tries.
