Hammarskjold Goes To Egypt
(Rec. 9 p.m.) JERUSALEM, June 22. The United Nations secretarygeneral, Mr Dag Hammarskjold,
was due to fly to Egypt today for talks with President Nasser.
Mr Hammarskjold is continuing his Middle East tour which began with a visit to Lebanon on Thursday and included talks last night with the Israeli Prime Minister. Mr Hammarskjold’s visit to Jerusalem failed to resolve the disputes between Jordan and Israel about the Israeli enclave in the demilitarized zone of Mount Scopus.
A Beirut report said that Mr Hammarskjold hopes to return to the Lebanon tomorrow or Tuesday.
Shot in Confusion.— The deputy Premier of the Western Uganda Kingdom of Toro, Mr Francis Kyakewa, was killed yesterday while hunting a pride of five lions which had invaded the capital. Fort Portal. During the confusion, Kyakewa was shot dead and a game guard was wounded.—Kampala, June 20. Appointment by Pope.— Cardinal Gregory Peter, the fifteenth Agagianian. Patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenians, has been named by the Pope to be a member of the Vatican’s Supreme Congregation of the Holy Office.—Vaticar City, June 20.
