APPEAL FOR REFUGEES
LONDON. June 21
The United Nations Association today appealed to the Free World to give the chance of a new life to 8000 Hungarian refugees still seeking a new country. Its executive committee said in a statement that it was right that there should be the strongest protest at the recent executions of former Hungarian Prime Minister Mr Nagy and his Defence Minister. General Pal Maleter.
“But protests are all too easily made and all too easily forgotten. There remain in Austria today no less than 18.000 Hungarian refugees.
“Ten thousand have chosen to remain in Austria, but 8000 begged to be allowed admission to some other country, further from the Hungarian borders. They are still waiting,” said the statement.
