Public Notice is accordingly given pursuant to the provisions of Rating Act, 1925’’ and “The Counties Act, 1956,” that it is the intention of the Paparua County Council at its meeting to be held on Monday, July 7, 1958, to make and levy the following rates and charges. 1. GENERAL RATE.

RURAL DISTRICT: Pursuant to 1 Sections 105 and 106 of "The ; Counties Act, 1956,” a Gen- * eral Rate of 8/10ths of a penny in the pound on the Capital Value of all the rateable property anoearing in the Valuation Rolls of the Rural District of the County. t 2. HORNBY AND SOCKBURN COUNTY TOWNS: Pursuant to Section 423 of “The Counties Act 1956" a General Rate of ( 9/10ths of a penny in the Pound on the Capital Value of . all the rateable property ap- , pearing in the Valuation Rolls * of the Hornby and Sockburn County Towns of the County. 2. SANITATION RATE. Pursuant to Section 115 of "The Counties Act, 1956,” a uniform annual charge of £3 per pan for removal of nightsoil. 3. HIGH PRESSURE WATER SUPPLY CHARGES. Pursuant to Section 118 (3) of “The Counties Act, 1956,” the following uniform Annual Charges for the ordinary supply of water as follows. £ s d per unit 1. Hornby New Housing Block System 5 10 0 2. JUNE 21, 1958. ATTENTION is drawn to the poll to be held on Saturday, June 21. of the electors of that part of the Paparua County proposed by the Local Government Commission to be amalgamated with the Springs and Halswell Counties. The part of the Paparua County affected comprises the Ridings of West Melton. Templeton, Broadfield, and Ladbrooks, the Prebbleton Riding with the exception of the properties between Springs and Shands roads adjacent to the Halswell Junction road, and the small portion of the Sockburn Riding in the vicinity of Wilmers, Carrs, McTeagues and the Halswell Junction roads. All persons whether ratepayers or residents whose names appear on the County .Electors’ Roll for the part of the County mentioned are entitled to vote on the amalgamation issue and the Council emphasises the importance of every elector recording his vote in order that a I proper opinion is given on this important question. J. H. WEAVER, County Chairman. 3302 CHEVIOT COUNTY COUNCIL MOTOR DRIVERS' LICENSES LICENSES which expire on June 30, 1958, may now be renewed at the County Office, Cheviot. Licences may be renewed for any number of years up to 5, except by drivers required to produce medical certificates, who : may renew their licences for 1 year only. The licence fees are 5s per year : plus Is 6d if a licence cover is required. With the exception of renewals, which require medical certificates or driving tests, licences issued by The I Cheviot County Council may be rel newed by post, provided the licence ' about to expire is forwarded together > with the appropriate fee and a ' stamped addressed envelope for return of licence. PERSONS 70 YEARS OF AGE OR MORE must make an appointment for a driving test and are required to produce a medical I certificate which must be dated not earlier than 14 days before the date on which the test is carried out.
