PUBLIC NOTICES WATMAIBI COUNTY COUNCIL. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MAKE AND LEVY RATES. YEAR 1958-1959. PURSUANT to the provisions of the "Rating Act, 1935” and the Act, 1956” and subsequent amendments, PUBLIC NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Waimairi County Council has prepared and approved the following Estimates, of Income’ and Ex* penditure for the period commenced on the Ist day of April, 1958, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1959: 1. INCOME: £ (a) Motor Drivers’ Licence Fees, Building and other miscellaneous licences and fees .. .. 17,870 (b) Main Highways Subsidy, Commission, Sale of Trees, Rents, etc. .. 35,203 (c) National Roads Board Subsidy .. 26.723 (d) Outstanding Rates, etc. 22,170 Amount required from General Rate .. 83,302 £ 185.268 2. EXPENDITURE: (a) Administration Salaries, Printing and Stationery, Postages, Telephones, General Office Expenses,- etc. .. 26,943 (b) Other items of a general nature, including fire protection, maintenance of buildings, reserves, refuse pits, grants and valuations 17,325 (c) Special Items and Separate Accounts, including street lighting, main highways, Canterbury Museum, Regional Planning, etc. .. 53,910 (d) County Works, including maintenance and construction of roads, footpaths, channels, dust and refuse collection, Works Loan charges, etc. .. 87,090 £185,268 3. NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that for the purpose of meeting the additional amount required of £83,302, it is the intention of the Waimairi County Council at the expiration of fourteen (14) days from the date of this notice, to make and levy General Rates on the rateable capital value of all the rateable property in the several Ridings of the County, as follows: Styx .85375 d in the £ Marshland .83043 d in the £ Belfast .89267 d in the £ Harewood .71417 d in.theNE Papanui .78859 d in the £ Wairarapa ' .70329 d in the £ Fendalton .54582 d in the £ Middleton .78572 d in the £ 4. FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN pursuant to the provisions of the "Counties Act, 1956,” the “Health Act, 1956” and the "Rating Act, 1925" that at the expiration of fourteen (14) days from the date of this notice, it is the intention of the Waimairi County Council to make and levy Separate Rates, Sanitation Fee and Rates on behalf of other Local Authorities as follows: (a) Under the provisions of Section 115 of the “Counties Act, 1956" a uniform annual fee of £2 12s in respect of each pan contained in closets and privies upon such properties within the Styx, Marshland, Belfast, Harewood, Papanui, Wairarapa and Middleton Ridings that have a house or houses erected thereon, and are liable for such fee. (b) Under the provisions of the “Local Authorities Loans Act, 1956,” special rates to provide for the annual charges on the following loans:— 1. North Papanui Channelling Redemption Loan—.o333d in the £ on the capital value. 2. Bryndwr Channelling Redemption Loan—.ooBd in the £ on the capital- value. (c) Under the provisions of Section 118 of the “Counties Act, 1956,” Water Rates as follows: 1. Upon all lands and buildings in the Coiinty to which water is supplied (a) where the annual rateable value does not exceed £l2 10s, a rate of one pound (£1); (b) where the annual rateable value exceeds £l2 10s, • a rate of two pounds two shillings and sixpence (£2 2s 6d) per centum on such value, provided that in no case shall the rate for any ordr inary supply be less than one pound (£1) per annum. 2. Upon all lands and buildings in the County to which water can be but is not supplied, situated within 100 yards of any part of the waterworks, a rate of one pound one shilling and threepence (£1 Is 3d) per centum on the annual rateable value as described in (1) supra. (d) Such other rates as are fixed and levied by Special Resolution of the following Local Author-

ities Christchurch Drainage Board. Christchurch Transport Board. North Canterbury Catchment Brd. The whole of the above rates, including the sanitation fee, to be for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1958, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1959, and shall be payable in one sum at the office of the Waimairi County Council, 83 North road, Papanui, on the 18th day of August, 1958, and to be subject to a penalty of ten per cent. (10%) additional if not paid within six (6) months and fourteen (14) days from date of demand thereof.
