Sir,— May I suggest that the new Christchurch Transport Board consider placing the number and letter indicating the destination of the bus at the back and sides of the vehicle? I am convinced there are many who have suffered, as I have, the irritation and frdstration of rushing up from the back of a bus or from across the road, round to the front to read the destination, only to find it is not the right bus. or that the doors are shut and you've missed the bus by a second or two.—Yours, etc., - H.O.H. It was considered best, in the interests of the public and the operators, to have the destinations grouped around the front of the vehicle as at present, which was in conformity with the _ modern practice of most bus undertakings, both local body and private.”]

Sir,—l suggest that the Christchurch Transport Board issue loose sheets showing on the right hand side a plan of Cathedral square and the zones from which buses start At each starting point on zones, bus terminal number should be shown. On the left-hand side of the sheet a list in alphabetical order of the points served should be given. The index could include special points en route (parks, sports grounds, suburbs, or specific streets). Such sheets exhibited in shop windows, hotels, and in the Square would assist all in locating bus starting points and advertise the transport system.—Yours, etc.. TRANSPORT. June 10, 1958.
