Today’s match betwee ' Nomads . and Christchurch-City will decide which team will go forward as Canterbury’s representative club team in the national Chatham Cup competition. Without any further matches, the winner will meet the winner of the southern zone elimination series. The competition provides for a northern zone final, but as there are no entries from other associations in the northern zone, the winner of the Canterbury series will automatically move forward to the island final, the semi-final of the national contest. To reach the district final today, both Nomads and Christchurch City surprised even their most hopeful supporters by disposin'" of Western and Technical Old Boys respectively. These teams are leading the senior soccer competition and it was expected that they would be the teams to take the field today. But Nomads and City, both of which include a number of improving young players, were not dismayed, and by determined and fast play they succeeded against their more experienced opponents. Having disposed of the “giants.” they can be depended upon to give of their best in today’s bi£ match in an endeavour to win the honour of representing Canterbury. and perhaps the South Island.
