Boy Killed By Train At Level Crossing
(New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI. June 6. A four-year-old boy died of injuries after being struck by a passing train on the Pitt street level crossing, Wanganui, this morning. He was: Dennis Peffers, son of Mr and Mrs W. N. Peffers, of 35 Halswell street. The locomotive crew said they Saw the child on the track, but could not stop the train in time. Fatal Shock From Electric Kettle (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 6. A woman received a fatal electric shock today while removing the plug from an electric kettle at a home at Meadowbank. She was: Mrs Margaret May Roper, aged 71, a widow, of Epsom. A waterside worker who was struck by a tractor trailer cm Pipitea Wharf, Wellington, yesterday afternoon, died in the Wellington Ho pital early this morning. He was: Jonathan Johnston, of Tasman street, Wellington. Motor-Cyclist Dies In Hospital (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 6. A young man who was injured in'a motor-cycle accident on Monday died in Auckland Hospital at about 10.30 tonight He was.: David Wilkinson, aged 20. a labourer, of Mt. Wellington. Scalded Child Dies From Injuries (New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, June 6. A child who was severely scalded when she fell into a bath at her home last Sunday died in Whangarei Hospital today. She was:— Sherrill Brott aged 19 months, the daughter of Mr and Mrs M Brott. of Onerahi. New School Prize.—A donation of £46 for a book prize in memory of Misses Best.
