Reports Sought On Sputnik
(Rec. 8.p.m.) LONDON, June 6. Moscow Radio appealed last night to foreign scientists and observers to send records on magnetic tape or photo-films of signals of the radio transmitter in Russia’s Sputnik 111, with time recordings or reports on the results of the decoding of the films.
The radio said they should be sent to the address. “Sputnik. Moscow ”
Data obtained on cosmic rays during the satellite’s passing through the shadow of the earth were of particular importance. “The most favourable conditions at present for such observations are in the southern hemisphere—the Antarctic, Australia, South America, and South Africa,” the announcer said.
Sydney Fish Imports (Rec. 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 6. Food trade authorities at Sydney believe that some importers have “burnt their fingers” with excessive imports of frozen fish.
They believe there will be a big drop in imports until the present stocks are cleared and new estimates of consumption are made. y
