ANTI-NUCLEAR WEAPONS RALLY IN EAST BERLIN.—On March 27 a big rally was held in East Berlin to protest against the equipment of the West German Army with nuclear weapons. A crowd of about 200,000 gathered in Marx-Engels Square. TOP Demonstrators carrying red flags march through East Berlin on their way to the rally. BOTTOM: Officers of the East German Army lead demonstrators through the city. The banner reads, “Prevent the equipment of West N.A.T.O. Army with atomic weapons, fight for the confederation of the two German states.”
